A golf weekend in Hämeenlinna

Jeremiah Agthe · Published 2026-08-24

The Hämeenlinna area is one of Finland's most concentrated golf regions: five courses and 81 holes in total fit within about twenty kilometres around Lake Vanajavesi. At two properties in our catalog the course is under 1.5 km away, so there is no need to change base even for a multi-course weekend.

Vanajanlinna with Linna Golf at the door

Vanajanlinna in Hämeenlinna is only about 230 metres from Linna Golf — a competition-level course on the Vanajanlinna manor grounds that has also hosted international professional tournaments. Tawast Golf's 18 holes are about 3.0 km from the same property, so two courses fit into one morning.

Katajistonranta and Aulangon Golfklubi

Katajistonranta in the Aulanko tourist area is about 1.2 km from Aulangon Golfklubi, a club founded in 1959 whose two courses add up to 27 holes. From the same property it is about 6.3 km to the 9 holes of Hattula Golf and about 5.6 km to Tawast Golf.

Hattula and Lepaa: two 9-hole courses

On the Hattula side there are two 9-hole courses: Hattula Golf near Parola and Lepaa Golf on the shore of Lake Vanajavesi in the village of Lepaa. The two are about 9.9 km apart, so both fit into the same day without a long drive.

Five courses, 81 holes, one base

In total, the Hämeenlinna area offers five courses and 81 holes — Aulanko's 27, Tawast's and Linna's 18 each, and Hattula's and Lepaa's 9 each. The farthest pair, Linna Golf and Lepaa Golf, are about 19 km apart, so the whole round fits around a single base at either Vanajanlinna or Katajistonranta.
