Lake Garda

Lake Garda is northern Italy's densest golf area: this catalogue lists 11 courses on the lake's southern and western shores, in the hills around Verona and on the Folgaria plateau. The season is spring and autumn, not winter: at the Verona airport station (1991–2020) March–April days are 15–19 °C and nights 4–8 °C, October–November days 13–19 °C and nights 5–10 °C, with 6–9 rain days a month, and the courses at the northern end close for winter. Finnair flies Helsinki–Milan Malpensa year-round and Helsinki–Verona in the summer season, Norwegian Helsinki–Milan Bergamo year-round (airport route lists); the lake is half an hour's drive from Verona and about two hours from Milan. The largest courses – the former Chervò San Vigilio, Arzaga, Gardagolf and Paradiso – sit inside holiday villages and villa estates whose apartments the owners rent out privately.

Apulia

Puglia is the heel of Italy's boot and has few golf courses: this catalogue lists 2, San Domenico Golf at Savelletri next to Borgo Egnazia and Acaya Golf Club near Lecce in Salento. The season is long: at the Bari airport station (1991–2020) March–April days are 16–19 °C and nights 6–9 °C, October–November days 18–22 °C and nights 9–13 °C, with 6–7 rain days a month. There is no direct flight from Finland to Bari or Brindisi; connections run via Rome or Milan, for example (airport route lists). The courses belong to hotel estates – San Domenico Hotels' Borgo Egnazia and Masseria San Domenico, Mira Hotels' Acaya Golf Resort – and the accommodation around them is privately rented masserie, the old farm estates, and trulli.
