A golf trip to Sweden

Published 2026-08-17

In Sweden golf is a national pastime: the country has around 450 courses and roughly half a million registered players — per capita more than almost anywhere else in Europe. For Finns Sweden is an easy destination: the overnight car ferry from Helsinki or Turku to Stockholm carries your clubs and car while you sleep. Note: the Golfmökit.fi distance catalog currently covers Finland only — this guide is an overview, not a property listing.

The best-known courses and regions

Skåne is Sweden's densest golf province: the seaside links of Falsterbo and Barsebäck, host of the 2003 Solheim Cup, are among the country's most respected. In Halland, the North Course of Halmstad GK at Tylösand hosted the 2007 Solheim Cup. Around Stockholm you play Bro Hof Slott and Ullna among others, and the Båstad area on the Bjäre peninsula is a classic golf-and-tennis resort region. Most courses welcome visitors; the most popular ones require booking well ahead.

When and how

The season runs from April–May to October in the south, often longer in Skåne. The car ferry from Helsinki or Turku to Stockholm is the most comfortable route with your own car; Skåne is also reached by flying to Copenhagen and crossing the Öresund bridge. For accommodation the stuga culture matches Finland's: a rental cottage or holiday home near a course is the natural choice, with green fees booked ahead through the clubs' own systems.
